Vision

The Wisconsin Materials Institute (WMI) enables collaborative, high-impact materials science and development at University of Wisconsin-Madison and beyond. As an umbrella organization at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, we provide a gateway for campus materials activities, research and findings.

Our vision is to bring together and support academia, industry, and government in accelerating materials science discoveries, and their utilization to benefit society.

We focus on engaging materials stakeholders across disciplines, including researchers in the fields of mathematics, statistics, computer sciences, information science, chemistry, medicine, and engineering. We participate in regional materials activities that provide solutions and services to the Wisconsin materials industry and community.
